How LED Lights Work
Both flashlights and headtorches from Lenser are obviously based on LED technology. Basically, an LED consists of two types of semiconductors that have varying abilities in the conduction of electricity:
• N-type semiconductors have an abundance of electrons
• P-type semiconductors provide more room for electrons to pass through its holes
When an electrical current is applied to the diode, the electrons travel from the N-type semiconductor to the P-type semiconductor. The energy released from the electron transfer – or from the electrons falling through the holes in the P-type semiconductor – is known as a photon, a particle of light. The continuous movement of electrons causes the LED Lenser flashlights and LED Lenser headtorches to emit light for their users.
